Lake consultant Steve Henry from RMB Labs, escorted on snowmobile by Lee Daly of the Big Swan Lake Improvement District’s TMDL committee, took additional soil samples from around the lake’s Schwanke Creek entry point on Jan. 9. Henry took three samples through the ice from the stream channel where it passes through heavy cattail cover. He collected three additional samples in the wetlands area further upstream.
The six samples go to the U of M for analysis. That’s where five dry land samples were sent after their visit to the creek last fall.
