On Monday, Oct. 17 lake consultant Steve Henry from RMB Environmental Labs and LID board member Lee Daly took solid samples on both sides of Schwanke Creek just east of Highway 287 and in an adjacent cattail area. Another board member, Al Leinen, gained permission from land owner Lois Thielen to access the field off Dogwood Loop.
Several soil scoops were taken and then mixed together by location into five samples that will be sent to the University of Minnesota for analysis. The consultant will return to the lake in January to take additional samples from the cattail areas where Schwanke Creek enters the lake. He’s planning to do this over the ice on an ATV for better access to multiple areas.
